basic 3d modeling

Basic rendering

first i created some primiative shapes adding a variety of diffrent effects onto each via matriels each use diffrent textures opacitys and reflective propertys, this was followed by adding a texture for flooring and the sky.
next i tried basic text creation and editing as well as utilising the spot light tool to position the light within the render.

this small model is made from 5 primitive objects and modified by and extrude tool to create the shape render however the model is not complete or textured

this is a small landscape peace that was the result of experimenting with the landscape tool as well as the magnet tool

with this model i used a tutorial to create the lava materiel creating the volcano itself with the landscape tool and then attaching the formula to the lava materiel to finish it off i also editied the volcanic landscape with the magnet tool to sink and rasie the surface

in this model i attempted to create a water surface using a custom materiel and attaching a formula module.

a small image created using booles in the surfaces to fit around the cylinder shapes and create a hole in the surface to fit the shape i also added glows into the cylinders as well as editing the lighting and matriels to create a clinical white look as this scene is based on the video game portal.

a small lava texture animation i created using an online tutorial and using and altering various tools
like formula and melt, i also learned various techniques for altering materials like copying one  channel
into another as well as displacement.

Final Modeling Project

this is the insparation for my final modeling project a flying machine called an ornithopter
featured in frank herberts Dune seris, there uniqe bird/insect like shape as well as there use of the wings for flight  inspired me to create something similar.

this is a 3d model created for the video game Dune 2000 , this inspired me to change the bird like wings from the original design to  insect like wings.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFW09tsCDTA this is an example of an animation created in cinema4D with the same machine , this also inspired me to create the project.

this is a sketch of the original idea a few features had been changed since as mention earlier the wings had been changed from bird wings to insect wings, the back interior also had a window however this idea was scarapped there is also a basic i dea of the front interior.

the front of the ships exterior created from a variety of grouped primative shapes
and molded into the shape you see via extruding and using hyperNERBUS, also the cotpit
seen at the frontal area was created by inserting a booled square into the object cutting out a basic shape for the cotpit.
in addition i also added a sand texture as an enviroment stastic on the plane creating the look of wind and sand flying past the hull.

The finished verision of the upper back interior of the ship you can also see the finished version of the
bridge/walkway leading to the front interior, the flooring was createed using basic flat plains and then editing various points to mold with the interior shape to finish it off i added a few cutson omni lighting effects as well as a few containers do bring a little bit of life to the scene, the bridge was created by cutting parts of the front of the hold and the back of the cotpit indiviually then creating a cylinder and hollowing it out.
the bottom back interior of the ship i started by creating the floor in same way as above however i also had to create the ramps seen at the far back these were created from basic planes but extruded to become thicker and longer this was also applied to the loading bay seen at the center of the floor,
finally i added a small computer screen seen at the far left this was created using a square , clyinder
and a basic plane edited to look holographic all of these were also extruded to visallu fit together.
the finished frontal exterior not much has been modefied since the beginig exept for the creation
of the window used by molding the polygon tool around the booled area of the front shape
the rear exteriot all of this was created usig the same methods as the front however
the engine effects were created using spheres editing there texture to create the effect
, a glow transparancy and custom matriel were all edited to create it.

the finished interior of the cotpit as stated above was created using a boole inside the front object

i added the same floor as the back interior and created computers seen at the far back and wall screens
created with planes , transparency, glow  and a matriel resmbeling a coputer screen saver
a similar method was used to create the glowing globe in the center however this time i downlaoded a full map of the earth from the internet aplied it to shpere and added a glow and transparency
to create the effect i also added a few lighting settings as well as the natrual light coming in from the enviroment outside which also has its own light source in the shape of a sun light tool.

althought this screen shot is not from the fnished version i have displayed it to show the link between thecotpit and the back interior as the door can be seen in the finished image. it was created just by using and extruded square adding a texture and placing it between the exterior wall.
the original look of the bakc interior this is just to show that the interior was natrually hollow
and later developed as an idea for the project  it also shows the proggersion from the beginig to the end
also the door/hatch object was part of the orginial design but later was reomved.
